How to register your IP address for Media Streamer DNS
This guide will show you how to check in 4 easy steps whether your IP address is registered with ExpressVPN.
1. Check for existing VPN or proxy connections
Make sure you don’t use a proxy and make sure there are no active VPN connections.
2. Sign in to access your DNS settings
Use your email address and password to log in to your account.
Upon signing in, go to the DNS Settings tab.
3.Check your IP address registration
Check if your IP is registered. If not, select Register my IP address. You can also choose to enable my IP address to be registered automatically. This is recommended (but optional) so that if it changes, you will not need to manually register your IP again.
4. Change your DNS server address
Change the DNS server address on your device once your IP address is registered. If you use an Apple TV, Xbox, or PlayStation to change your IP address, remember to restart your device.
When does ExpressVPN remove IPs?
If you have “enabled” the option to automatically register your IP address, your IP address will be deleted if you do not use an ExpressVPN application with that IP for 30 days that you do not sign up for 30 days with that IP
If the option to automatically register your IP address has been “disabled,” your IP address will be deleted if: you do not sign in to your ExpressVPN account and you click Register my IP address using that IP for 30 days.
For accounts revoked, please note that it may take up to 30 days to remove the IP after the account is revoked.
If you have a dynamic IP address, an IP previously assigned to you may later be assigned to someone else.
If that person registers their IP with ExpressVPN, the IP will appear again in ExpressVPN’s systems.
